This is a Dutch Friesian Schippertje vintage antique wall clock with pendulum and weights, a charming example of traditional Dutch craftsmanship.
These clocks were called “Schippertje” (meaning Skipper) because they were originally used on Dutch boats. They were designed to keep running even while the boat was rocking at sea. Later, the Dutch appreciated this design and began displaying them in their homes as vintage wall clocks.
These clocks were very popular in the 1960s. This old pendulum clock chimes beautifully on the half-hour and full hour, with a hammer striking a drum. It operates with a pendulum mechanism and is powered by two brass weights.
This particular clock also features a moonphase function, adding both charm and functionality. Crafted from high-quality materials, it shows some normal signs of age, especially on the side panels, as seen in the photos.
The clock is in full working order and has been thoroughly tested to ensure it functions perfectly.
